Dr. George Farag is the founder and lead consultant of Silverline Strategies. Prior to establishing the firm Dr. Farag was a United States Diplomat and Consular Officer. He served at high-risk missions in the Middle East, including being among the first non-military officers in Iraq in 2003 and evacuating 15,000 Americans during the 2006 Lebanon War. His work earned him the Secretary of State’s prestigious Superior Honor Award and the Meritorious Honor Award for Outstanding Service.
As a Consular Officer, Dr. Farag adjudicated thousands of immigrant and non-immigrant visa applications based on U.S. immigration law. He authored the book Pro-American Immigration: Common Ground in our Immigration Strategy and is called on for expert analysis on American immigration and Middle East policy. Founder & CEO
Dr. George Farag is the founder and CEO of Silverline Strategies. Prior to founding Silverline Strategies Dr. Farag was a United States Diplomat and Consular Officer. He served at U.S. Embassies throughout the Middle East at times of conflict and political unrest. In Lebanon, he oversaw the evacuation of over 15,000 American citizens during the 2006 war, which was one of the largest overseas evacuations of American citizens in recent history. In addition he adjudicated consular services subject to highly complex clearance procedures and ensured consistency with U.S. law. In Iraq, Dr. Farag worked with the local government and security services to facilitate operations of the Najaf province in the financial, security, and social development sectors. In Bahrain, he cooperated with government officials in the Arabian Gulf to develop objectives and strategic plans to manage USG donor projects in social development and civil society.
Dr. Farag then served as the Acting Vice President for consulting at the American University of Beirut. In this capacity he managed consulting projects in higher education, public administration, and management valued at over $20 million. He also secured and managed AUB’s participation in the largest USAID-funded project in Lebanon valued at $75 million. He worked with senior government and private sector officials to conduct organizational assessments and offer solutions aimed at developing or improving management systems.
Dr. Farag is the recipient of the Secretary of State Superior Honor Award given by Secretary Collin Powell, the Department of State Meritorious Honor Award, the George P. Schultz Consular Certificate, and the Jersey City Rotary Award. He holds a PhD in Cultural Anthropology and an M.A. in Public Administration and International Relations from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University.
